Anger
– God says you should not be angry. This means do not lose
your temper, be hotheaded or to have a temper fit.
Eph 4:26 “Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on
your anger.” Isaiah 64:9a “Do not be angry beyond measure.”
Jealous
– God says not
to be jealous of what someone has or what they can do better than you.
Gen 37:lla “His brothers were jealous of him.”
Fear
– God says
you should not be afraid. Do not be scared of
things like the dark or spiders.
Ps 27:1a “The Lord is my
light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” Isaiah 35: 4b “Take
courage, fear not.”
Envy
– God says not to envy. This means to be jealous of the
toys or the games your friends have.
Mat 27:18 "For he [Pilot] knew that because of envy they [the Jews] had
handed Him over to be crucified."
Judge
– God does not
want you to judge who and what your friends are or are doing.
Matt 7:1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.”
Self-pity
- The bible teaches that we shouldn't
feel sorry for ourselves and whine or pout when things don't go our way!
James 1:2 "Consider it all joy [a great honor], my brothers, whenever
you face trials of many kinds.
Arrogance
– God says you should not be arrogant.
That means not to be proud of yourself for what you do or to be vain
[proud] about how you look or vain [proud] about the toys you have.
Jer 49:16a “The arrogance
of your heart [mind] has deceived you.”
Selfishness
– God says not to be selfish. You should play and
share with others. Share your toys.
James 3:14 “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish
ambition in your heart [mind] , do not be arrogant [proud] and so lie
against the truth.”
Hate
– God says you
should not think about hate or hate another person. This means not to
dislike them.
Prov 10:12a “ Hatred stirs up strife [trouble, problems].”
Worry
– God says to not
worry about things, like your Mom & Dad or your safety.
Matt 6:25a “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your
life.”
Disrespect
– God says
you should think respectfully of others and to show respect for their
property.
Romans 12:17b “Respect what is right in the sight of all men.”
Bitterness
– God says
not to be bitter. This means to be mean, resentful or not nice in your
thoughts about your family and your friends.
Eph 4:31 “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander
be put away from you, along with all malice[meaness].”

Interrupting
– God says that interrupting someone is not polite & respectful.
You should always wait your turn before speaking.
1 Pet. 2:17a - "Show proper respect to
everyone: love the brotherhood of believers
"
Complaining
– God does
not want you to complain. That means to be unhappy about things in your
life.
James 5:9a “Do not
complain, brethren [Royal Family members].”
Boasting
– God says not
to boast or brag. “I am the best, I am the smartest, I can do
everything better than you, I can run faster, I am stronger, I can read
better"
Prov 25:14 “Like clouds
and wind without rain is a man who boasts of his gifts falsely.”
James
4:16 “But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is
evil.”
Lying
– God tells us not
to lie. You should always tell the truth.
Psalms 58:3b “These who speak lies go astray”
Gossiping
– God says
not
to gossip. You should not talk about one person to another person.
1Tim 5:13b “But also gossip and busybodies, talking about things not
proper to mention [to say].”
Excuse Making
– God does
not want you to blame others or to say you did not do something when you
did. Do not say, “ He took my ball, he hit me first, he did it”, when
the ball rolled away, you hit him first, you did a wrong thing. You
must take responsibility for the things you do wrong, not blame
others.
Luke 14:18a “But they all alike began to make excuses.”
Mocking
– God says not
to mock others. You should not make fun of others for how they dress,
for how they look, if they wear glasses, if they are fat or skinny or
rich or poor.
Prov 17:5a “He who mocks
the poor taunts [makes fun] his Maker.”
Flattery
– God says not
to flatter. If you give another a compliment you should mean what you
say, not say it just to get your way or something you want.
Proverbs 29:5 “A man who flatters his neighbor [friend] is spreading a
net [trap] for his steps.”
Criticism
– God does not
want you to speak things that are bad about the things that other people
do.
Romans 14:10 "But you, why do you condemn your brother? Or you again,
why do you regard your brother with contempt?"

Quarrel
– God tells us not to argue and talk mean to others, not
to fight with words
Proverbs 17:14b “So abandon
[stop] the quarrel before it breaks out
[starts].”
Hinder –
You should not hinder your friends. God does not want you to stop them
from doing the right thing.
Matt 19:14a “But Jesus said, “Let the children alone and do not hinder
them from coming to Me.”
Cheat
– God does not want you to cheat. This means to deceive, to tell a lie
or to be dishonest. To say you did your homework, but you copied it
from a friend. You should not try to get your way or to have something
by being dishonest.
Amos 8:5e “And to
cheat with dishonest scales.” Gen 31:7 “ And yet your father has
cheated me and changed my wages ten times; however, God did not allow
him to hurt me.”
Disobey/Reject Authority – God teaches you to have respect for
authority. You should listen to and obey your parents, your teachers,
your grandparents, and others who are in charge of keeping you safe.
Heb 13:17a “Obey your leaders [parents, teachers, others in charge] and
submit [listen and mind] to them, for they keep watch over your souls
[you].”
Stealing
– God teaches that you should not take and keep anyone’s toys or
things. You are not to take candy from the store or rob anything that
belongs to another person.
Ex 20:15 “You shall not steal.” Mark 10:19d “Do not steal”
Scheme
– God does not want you to be a schemer.
You should not plot and plan
to do anything that is wrong or to blame others for things you do. You
should not make up stories.
Job 18:7b “And his own scheme [plot and plan] brings him down [you never
win].”
Extortion
– God teaches that you should not threaten to tell on someone if they
will not give you something you want. Do not be a tattle tale.
Jeremiah 22:17d “And on practicing oppression and extortions.”
Fighting
– God does not
want you to fight. You should not hit, bite, scratch or
hurt others.
James 4:2b “You are envious [jealous] and cannot obtain [get what you
want]; so you fight and quarrel.”
Murder
– God teaches you that you should not hurt or
murder another person. When you hurt someone or murder them you take
away their freedom.
Ex 20:13 “You shall not murder.” |
